Post-Post Network based on likes

Apr 16, 2013 at 1:07 PM
Hi,

The social network importer is very useful.

I would like to know more about the concept behind. While I am trying to use the importer for NodeXL to create a Post-Post Network based on likes for a Facebook group. I know that the vertices are the Facebook posts, but how are the edges drawn between the vertices? What is the meaning of "Based on likes"? Based on the quantity of likes?

Thanks.

Hello Tommy,

a Post-Post network (as you have already said) is a network which has Posts as vertices and an edge is drawn between those vertices when:
  1. the same user has liked both posts ("Based on Likes")
  2. the same user has made a comment in both posts ("Based on Comments")
Hope this helps!

Hi Arber,

As you have mentioned, in a Post-Post network Based on Likes, an edge is drawn between two posts when the same user has liked both posts.

For example, there are 4 posts, P1, P2, P3 and P4. There are also four users, A,B,C and D.

P1 are liked by users A and B.
P2 are liked by users A and C.
P3 are liked by user C.
P4 are liked by user D.

According to the algorithm,
  1. An edge is drawn between P1 and P2.
  2. An edge is drawn between P2 and P3.
  3. No edge is drawn between P1 and P3.
  4. P4 is an isolated vertex.
Am i Correct? Thanks.

Hi Arber,

I have one more question.

Same as before, I have used a Post-Post network Based on Likes. I have classified the vertices into different groups and generated the group metrics.

I am not sure what is the meaning of geodesic distance and how the value is generated.

Thanks.
